Tina Knowles Celebrates 70th Birthday Being “Spoiled” And Serenaded By Destiny’s Child
Tina Knowles brought in her 70th birthday surrounded by friends, family, and loads of gratitude. The mother-of-two shared in an Instagram post on Wednesday (Jan. 10) that she gathered with loved ones at “her favorite place in the world,” Malibu Beach. She also revealed she was treated with an extra special gift: a serenade by Destiny’s Child.
“This has been a spiritual weekend, and just about the empowerment of kicka** women… and I feel so loved,” she shared in the social media clip. “I had a little anxiety about turning 70, you know? But I’m so blessed to be here, and I’m so blessed to have the life that I have and the people that I have around me. All the love.”
Ms. Tina then delved into all of the special gifts she received, including being sung to by Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and her daughter Beyoncé.
“I just got spoiled to death this weekend,” she continued. “I even got serenaded by Destiny’s Child. How amazing is that? So I just want to thank everyone who sent me flowers, everyone that told me a happy birthday. I got so many well wishes. I’ve got so many bonus children — beautiful bonus children — and I just feel so blessed. I love you guys.”
Knowles has been an instrumental part of the trio’s journey, as she spent several years hand-making the girls’ stage outfits and red carpet looks. The accomplished designer previously revealed she drew most of her inspiration for her creations from Motown girl groups and then personalized the ensembles to flatter each of the girls’ figures.
“When you think of a group like the Supremes, you not only wanted to hear them sing but you wanted to see what they were going to wear because they were different. So, we wanted to create that on our little budget,” she told Essence. “I always tried to look at what each girl liked about her body.”
