Timothee Chalamet's Net Worth Proves He's Not a 'Complete Unknown'
Timothée Chalamet's net worth is a major source of intrigue (much like it is for celebs like Drake and Nicki Minaj). It makes sense seeing as the actor's been in some huge-grossing blockbusters: Interstellar raked in $741 with Dune: Part Two clocking in at $714.
Chalamet contains multitudes and is much more artistically powerful than he might seem at first glance. And the richness of his talent translates to real money in the bank.
Even though his star has risen quickly, Chalamet has been working in Hollywood for a while and, as such, has amassed a bigger fortune than you might think. Here are the details on Chalamet's net worth, and the impressive career path that's gotten him here.

Timothée Chalamet's Impressive Hollywood Career
Born in New York City in 1995, Chalamet was inspired to become an actor by the time he was just 13 years old. In 2008, he was blown away by Heath Ledger's performance in The Dark Knight, which put him on the path to becoming one of the greatest actors of his generation. Ironically or not, according to Vogue (UK) in 2022, Leonardo DiCaprio gave Chalamet two rules for a great career: "No hard drugs and no superhero movies." So, despite being inspired by a Batman film, it's unlikely that Chalamet will ever end up in the DC or Marvel universes.
That said, he did get to work with Christopher Nolan fairly early in his career, having a minor role in the 2014 film Interstellar, playing the son of Matthew McConaughey's character. And although he'd been in some TV roles, including Law & Order and Homeland, his post-Interstellar career was pretty much when things began to blow up. By 2015 he was in The Adderall Diaries; then, in 2016, Chalamet had a major breakthrough starring opposite Armie Hammer in Call Me by Your Name, adapted from the novel of the same name by André Aciman and directed by Luca Guadagnino.

From there, Chalamet was on a role, starring in Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird in 2017, and her take on Little Women in 2019. In 2021, he told me it was his experience on Little Women that encouraged him to take on the lead role in Denis Villeneuve's ambitious adaptation of Dune, saying "Nobody minds another good adaptation of a good book."
In the world of Dune, his character, Paul Atreides, is sometimes called "Lisan al Gaib," which means he's the voice from another world, and, in that story, the Chosen One. Currently in Hollywood, he feels like the Chosen One, having done nothing but massive projects after his victory lap in both Dune: Part One (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024). From great family film fare like Wonka to his recent turn as Bob Dylan in the Oscar-darling A Complete Unknown, it feels as though Chalamet is just getting started.

Chalamet's net worth is currently $25 million dollars, according to Celebrity Net Worth. This has largely come from his more recent box office wins like Dune and Wonka. Even though it was just one year after the COVID-19 pandemic, Dune: Part One earned $407 million at the worldwide box office. In 2023, Wonka made $634 million and, in 2024, Dune: Part Two earned $714 million.
But, despite these recent massive hits, his career before that created a solid foundation for these earnings. To put it another way, Chalamet began his career as a kind of indie actor, working on films he was passionate about, including Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch, which he was filming while preparing for his role in Dune. But, Chalamet, doesn't distinguish between passion projects and projects he does for money. In 2021, he told Den of Geek, that he considered Dune to be a "high-level" indie, meaning the scale and money involved in the project didn't change his approach to the art.

Clearly, his fortune and net worth are only going to grow with time. As of now, he's made history as the youngest two-time Oscar nominee since James Dean. As of January 27, 2025, he will have hosted Saturday Night Live three times, which is shocking considering he's not yet 30 years old.
With this much success so early, it'll be fascinating to see where Chalamet goes from here. In 2021, he told Time that being called a movie star felt "like death." But clearly, as a movie star, Chalamet gives his art, a very special kind of life.
