Teen Mom OG's Tyler Baltierra Reveals His Dad and Sister Are Sober: 'Never Give Up'

Tyler Baltierra is crying happy tears.

The Teen Mom OG star, 27, revealed the joyful news on Tuesday that both his father, Butch Baltierra, and sister, Amber Baltierra, are sober.

“Writing this with tears in my eyes because words can’t express the amount of peace & joy I feel in my heart. After seeing these two at their lowest & now seeing them sober & steadily climbing, I just can’t say enough how proud I am of both of them!” he captioned a smiling photo of himself, Butch and Amber.

“I am a firm believer that the power of unconditional love in a family can truly transform the dynamic & I’m just so happy to call these two my family,” wrote Tyler.

“I love you both SO MUCH & I’m SO PROUD OF YOU!!! @xoambularxo @baltierramtv,” he said.

The MTV personality added the hashtags, “#Family #Recovery #NeverGiveUp #Baltierras.”

Also on Tuesday, Amber addressed her past addiction and recovery on social media.

She shared a text post that read, “Yes I did drugs, sure did. But I also found recovery. Why don’t you gossip about that?”

Throughout his time starring on MTV, Tyler has been open about his family’s struggles with addiction.

Last year, in a February episode of Teen Mom OG, audiences watched as Tyler flew with his father to get him treatment for his drug addiction.

Butch revealed that it was his ninth or tenth time seeking professional help and that he hoped this would be his last visit.

“I ain’t got no pressure, nobody trying to sneak up on me or try to get me with a razor,” Butch said of his confidence at returning to a center as opposed to his recent stay in prison.

When the arrived at the center, Tyler and Butch were separated with the latter talking to an intake counselor and Tyler speaking to a different counselor about the sobriety process his father would undergo.

Tyler expressed his worry about leaving his father alone with strangers. “Who’s going to call him every day? You know?” he told a counselor.

“I know. The truth is Tyler this is a family disease,” the counselor told him. “You’ve suffered trauma based on his addiction. Every time that phone rings and you’re wondering who’s on the other end and what’s he got to say, that’s trauma, that’s a trauma response. His happiness is not your responsibility. It’s his.”

In a separate room, Butch admitted to an intake counselor that he had taken crack three or four days before entering rehab, saying cocaine and crack were his drugs of choice and that he frequently used “a lot of it.”

“Listen I’m a mess, you’re getting a banged up garbage can,” Butch said.

As the night drew to a close, Butch and Tyler grew emotional as they hugged each other goodbye.

“I love you,” Butch said, to which Tyler replied, “I love you too dad.”

More than a year ago, Tyler tweeted about his father’s addiction in January 2018, writing that the would always love his father despite the heartache they’ve both been through.

“As a child of an addict, I don’t think I’ll ever NOT be angry with him,” wrote Tyler. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t love him unconditionally.”

Despite the difficult times that his family has endured — including wife Catelynn Baltierra‘s battle with depression and anxiety — Tyler is optimistic about the future.

“Can’t believe our little baby is going to be 4 tomorrow!!! As I look back on this past year, I’m reminded how blessed I am regardless of all the hard times we have experienced,” he wrote in a New Year’s Eve post alongside a smiling family photo.

Tyler and Catelynn are parents to 9-year-old daughter Carly — whom they placed for adoption during MTV’s 16 and Pregnant — and 4-year-old daughter Novalee. The couple is also expecting a third child together — another baby girl.

“I love my family more than words could express & I’m so happy where we are in life & proud of all the work we have done & I just love the love we all share in this little family tribe we created & I can’t wait to meet the newest little member! #HappyNewYear #HappyBirthdayNovalee,” he wrote.
