Taylor Swift premieres new song 'New Year's Day' during airing of 'Scandal'
Just before her new album dropped, Taylor Swift premiered the song “New Year’s Day,” from Reputation. Being a superstar, Swift premiered it in a super way, during the Nov. 9 airing of ABC’s hit show Scandal.
It appeared as though not many Scandal fans appreciated the musical interlude. In fact, Twitter feeds were full of funny memes and GIFs about the interruption.

The performance took place in October at Swift’s seaside home in Rhode Island. To make the performance more intimate, she personally selected 100 fans to join her around the piano as she played and sang.
An extended version of Swift’s performance will air Friday, Nov. 10, on Freeform during The DUFF.
But for the fortunate fans who already experienced the extended version, they seemed to enjoy the lyrics, which captured New Year’s Day perfectly.
Scandal airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC. Watch clips and full episodes of Scandal free on Yahoo View.
