Taylor Swift totally lets loose, and nobody's looking, in new 'Delicate' video
When one is as huge a star as Taylor Swift, it becomes unfathomable to consider what it might be like to dance through life as if nobody’s looking. Or does it? Swift explores this possibility in the playful and charming new video for “Delicate,” which debuted at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 11.
In the clip, Swift arrives at an event surrounded by her usual entourage, giving a red carpet interview and dealing with the trappings of fame. Things take a twist when she discovers a magical note that renders her invisible to everyone around her. Once she realizes this, she’s free to make ridiculous faces in the bathroom mirror, throw down some crazy dance moves, twirl about in the rainy streets, and even perform the splits on a parked car.
The video shows off the very best of Swift and what endears her to her legions of fans — the ideal of a goofy and real person that always manages to fight its way up through her veneer of celebrity.
“Delicate” is the fourth song from Swift’s album Reputation to receive video treatment. The clip was filmed in downtown Los Angeles and directed by a frequent collaborator, Joseph Kahn.
Swift picked up the Best Female Artist trophy at the iHeartRadio Awards but was unable to attend. She’s getting ready for her latest tour, which kicks off May 8 in Arizona with openers Camila Cabello and Charli XCX.
