Taylor Polidore Williams, Crystle Stewart Become Entangled in New ‘Beauty in Black’ Trailer From Tyler Perry
Taylor Polidore Williams and Crystle Stewart battle amid sex, scandal and corporate intrigue in the official trailer for Beauty in Black, Tyler Perry’s first drama for Netflix, which dropped on Tuesday.
The earlier teaser for Beauty in Black spotlighted the diverging paths in life for the characters played by Williams and Stewart. Acrimony star Stewart as Mallory has riches running her family business, but Williams’ Kimmie struggles as a stripper living in a seedy motel after her mother kicked her out.

But the latest trailer reveals Kimmie’s life taking a turn when she crosses paths in her club with a patron, Horace, played by Ricco Ross. He becomes her entrée into a rich yet dysfunctional family behind a cosmetics conglomerate and a devious trafficking scheme.
“You think this is a game,” Kimmie tells a wary Horace at one point in the trailer, before adding: “I’m in.” That puts her on a collision course with Mallory, who, faced with a threat to her family business brand, from the back of a limo demands: “I want to know who’s behind this.”
The cast for the Perry series also features Amber Reign Smith as Rain, Debbi Morgan as Olivia, Richard Lawson as Norman, Steven G. Norfleet as Charles, Julian Horton as Roy, and Terrell Carter as Varney.
The Beauty in Black drama is part of Perry’s overall deal with the streamer. The 16-episode, hourlong drama is written, directed and produced by Perry.
Beauty in Black from Tyler Perry Studios will release in two parts, with the first eight episodes dropping Oct. 24. A release date for Part 2 has not yet been announced.
The producers include Will Areu, Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland for Tyler Perry Studios.
