What is the 'Suspect Challenge'? All about the latest TikTok trend
A new TikTok trend is both exposing people and bringing them together in fits of laughter.
In now-viral videos of the “Suspect Challenge,” one person jogs while the person filming roasts them in the form of a police broadcast, describing the individual running away as the “suspect.”
Couples, siblings and friends have taken over the trend, switching off who is the “suspect” running and who plays the authority figure mocking the runner.
In one popular rendition, which has amassed over 18 million views, a couple can't stop cracking up as they take turns throwing jabs at one another.
When describing her partner, the woman says, “Suspect has hair styled like a 14-year-old boy.” They then switch roles, with the man quipping, “Suspect looks like she’s running for the first time in her entire life.”
TikToker Abbie Herbert also took on the trend with her husband, Josh Herbert, and their video has garnered over five million views.
“Suspect has been trying to grow a beard for the past eight years, but still only has two hairs on,” Abbie Herbert says to her husband, who then stops running to rub his chin.
“You know that’s a sensitive topic,” he jokes.
Josh Herbert then came back with an even deeper dig, telling his wife, “Suspect has a mustache, dry hair and a poor fashion sense.”
Acclaimed social media influencers like Brooklyn McKnight, Emilie Kiser and Claudia Walsh, among others, have given the trend a whirl — and have put their relationships to the test in a comical way.
Though it's unclear which creator coined the trend, but in the last month, the "Suspect Challenge" has taken over TikTok.
