Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans Will Let Viewers Vote on Twists That Could Change Returnees’ Fates
Last year, Survivor host Jeff Probst gave fans the ultimate tease by revealing that the reality series’ 50th season would be featuring all returning players. Now, approximately one year away from the anniversary season’s premiere (and just a few months ahead of its filming), our hostmaster general has revealed that you are going to have a huge say in how everything shakes out.
Saturday, Probst announced the very-fan-centric theme for the big 5-0 celebration. Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans will allow viewers to impact the game like never before via a public vote that could change the way idols, twists and advantages are used in the season. Fans and fans alone will determine key elements through the online vote, and the players won’t know what fans voted for until they hit the sands of Fiji.

Starting on Survivor 48‘s premiere day (Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 8/7c on CBS), fans can begin voting on the first of multiple categories like “Idols or No Idols,” “Final Four Fire-making: Keep It or Lose It” and “Live Finale and Reunion Show in L.A. — or Keep the Winner Reveal and Aftershow in the Jungles of Fiji.” All voting will conclude prior to start of filming for the 50th edition.
And look! A brand-new logo was gifted to us to go along with the news.
“From the very first season, Survivor has been evolving,” executive producer and host Probst said in a statement. “Now for our 50th season, it’s time for the next evolution. Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans is unlike anything we’ve done before. For the first time ever, our loyal fans will take control — deciding key elements of the game, from twists to idols to advantages. I can’t wait to see what the fans choose for our returning players!”
And that’s not all that’s in store for the show’s diehard watchers. Thanks to a new partnership between CBS and Fiji Airways, your “tribe” can enter to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Fiji where you can watch Season 50 film, meet-and-greet with Probst and get a personal tour of the Fijian islands (Tribal Council set, included!) where the show takes place. And you’ll fly there in a Survivor 50-branded Fiji Airways jet. (Click here for full contest details and to find out how to enter.)
