Surprise! Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden welcome baby girl
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden are parents now.
The pair made the surprise announcement Friday on social media that they have stealthily welcomed a daughter into their lives. The baby girl — named Raddix (nickname: “Rad”) — is their first child after nearly five years of marriage, and has “completed” their family.
“Happy New Year from the Maddens,” the post, shared to both their accounts, began. “We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She instantly captured our hearts and completed our family. While we are overjoyed to share the news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy. So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would even say RAD.”
It continued, “From our family to all of yours, we’re sending our love and best wishes for a Happy New Year and Happy New Decade.”
The There’s Something About Mary star, 47, and the Good Charlotte rocker, 40, who will mark their fifth wedding anniversary on Jan. 5, didn’t reveal how they added to the family — there was never a pregnancy announcement, nor was she photographed appearing to look pregnant. However, sources have long been leaking their baby ambitions to the press.
And yes, Diaz has evolved when it comes to both her positions on marriage and children. At the height of her fame, she said many times that she wasn’t interested in either. But after her surprise wedding in 2015, she has largely retired from acting, and has put a focus on her personal life with the musician.
