Superman prequel Krypton adds Game of Thrones, Da Vinci's Demons actors
The Man of Steel's home planet has a few new inhabitants.
Syfy announced Monday that its Superman prequel pilot Krypton has cast Ian McElhinney of Game of Thrones and Elliot Cowan of Da Vinci's Demons in series regular roles, along with Ann Ogbomo (World War Z), Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness), Wallis Day (The Royals), and Aaron Pierre (Tennison).
McElhinney, known for his role as Ser Barristan Selmy on GoT, will play Val-El, a genius whose ideas about space exploration and self-defense are ignored by the Kryptonian elite. Val-El is the great-great-grandfather of Kal-El (the future Superman) and the grandfather of lead character Seg-El, who will be portrayed by Cameron Cuffe.
Cowan will play Daron Vex, chief magistrate of Kandor; Ogbomo will play Primus Alura Zod, a leader of Krypton's military guild; Hardiker will play Kem, a brilliant engineer and Seg-El's best friend; Day will play Nyssa Vex, a junior magistrate and the daughter of Daron; and Pierre will play Dev-Em, a military cadet under Zod's command.
Set two generations before the destruction of the titular planet, Krypton is to follow Seg-El as he fights to redeem the House of El and save his world. A premiere date for the pilot has yet to be announced.
