Sundance Buzz Docu ‘Will & Harper’ With Will Ferrell Lands At Netflix In 8-Figure Deal
The last of the Sundance buzz titles has landed. Netflix closed a deal for Will & Harper, the documentary in which Will Ferrell takes a road trip with his lifelong pal Harper Steele after the latter transitioned. Sources said deal was for eight figures.
In the Josh Greenbaum-directed docu, Ferrell finds out his close friend of three decades came out as a trans woman. Steele is a longtime comedy writer who helped Ferrell gain the confidence for his outlandish comedy on SNL and film comedy hits. All this was completely new territory for Ferrell, as it is for many people who believe in tolerance but just don’t understand. What a great opportunity to have the amiable Ferrell take a cross-country road trip with his buddy, ask every question and process this new stage of their relationship in a portrait of friendship, transition and America.
