The video provides some clues to the aftermath of the cataclysmic event in the Season 4 finale, with the Upside Down seeping into Hawkins. The town had not been taken over, with the Hawkins High School which the main characters attend, looking pretty intact.
Ross Duffer, co-creator, executive producer and co-showrunner alonside his brother Matt Duffer, already marked the Season 5 production midpoint with a July 3 Instagram post. “Week 24. Happy half way to the best cast and crew ever” he wrote next to a photo of the cast and crew and a video featuring star Finn Wolfhard.
While Season 5 will bring Stranger Things to a conclusion, the franchise will carry on. There is a stage show, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, in London’s West End along, with an untitled animated spinoff series in the works at Netflix.
