Stephen Colbert airs Christmas special 'Once Upon Impeachment'
One day after President Donald Trump became only the third president in U.S. history to be impeached, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert aired an animated Christmas special titled Once Upon Impeachment. The special parodied events leading up to, and surrounding Trump’s impeachment, from his infamous phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, to Trump’s staunchest of defenders like Lindsey Graham and Rudy Giuliani.
In the special, rather than Giuliani going to Ukraine to get dirt on Joe Biden, he went to the North Pole and obtained Santa’s naughty and nice list by holding Frosty the Snowman hostage. But before Giuliani could share the list, to which he added Biden’s name, with Congress, Santa crashed the party..
Santa was asked to testify about what’s on Trump’s naughty list, to which he replied, “What’s the point? I mean, you really think it will help? Well he already told you every naughty thing he did and you still elected him president.”
Then when he came to Trump’s nice list, Santa said, “I got nothin’. But Mr. President, there’s still time. Why, you’ve got a whole year left to resign.”
Trump then initiated a drone strike on Santa Claus.
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
