‘Squid Game’ Sets Release Date for Third and Final Season
Let the games begin, again. Netflix revealed the premiere date for season three of Squid Game on Thursday, with the highly anticipated final installment of the popular show hitting the streaming service on June 27.
Along with the release date, Netflix also shared a poster for the new season, depicting a pink-suited guard dragging an unidentified player across a floral backdrop and towards a black casket decorated with a pink bow. Two shadows loom over the scene in a frightening visual that sets an eerie scene for season three.

Three years after Squid Game debuted on Netflix and became a global sensation, Season Two finally premiered in December 2024, leaving fans on the edge of their seats with high stakes cliffhangers. The last time viewers saw main character Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), otherwise known as Player 465, he was embroiled in chaos and grief following the brutal events in season two. The new season will pick up right where this last off and find Gi-hun fighting to end the inhumane game at the center of the show and battling intense consequences put forth by the show’s villian, The Front Man.
Since the release of season one in 2021, Squid Game has captivated audiences across the U.S. and abroad. The show’s second season even set a premiere week viewing record. In fact, the show’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, previously credite the show’s popularity with securing a second installment. Last year, he told Entertainment Weekly he had only intended for two seasons, but switched courses, “I originally envisioned seasons 2 and 3 as a single story,” he said at the time. “That’s how I wrote it. But in the process, it came out to be too many episodes.”
