‘South Park’: How to Make Your Own Chocolate Salty Balls
Internet Chef Andrew Rea — better known by his YouTube channel’s moniker, Binging With Babish — is at it again, creating mouthwatering cuisine based on your favorite TV shows and movies. In the past, he’s made, and often improved upon, the Moistmaker from Friends, the Rum Ham from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Eggs Woodhouse from Archer. And now he’s set his sights on three delicacies from South Park.
Up first is an early favorite from the 20-season series, Chef’s Chocolate Salty Balls. The fictional snack, which was made into a real music video by songsmith and Chef-portrayer Isaac Hayes, included a recipe in the lyrics. But Rea found that Chef’s formula came out a bit … flat. With a few more attempts, a globular ball was achieved that would have made Chef proud.
Then, it was on to Cartman’s Chili Con Carne, which featured a secret ingredient — the deceased parents of Cartman’s bully, Scott Tenorman. Chef Rea is appearing live at Comedy Central’s Colossal Clusterfest in San Francisco in June, participating in a Chili Con Carne Cook-Off, so he’d better make certain that his chili is second to none. Since he can’t actually cook with human meat, for myriad reasons, he substitutes pork to create a delicious dish that will have you exclaiming “I can’t believe it’s not people!”
Rea completes his triumvirate with Randy Marsh’s frittata, and you know he finished it off with a healthy dollop of crème fra?che.
