Sofía Vergara Believes This City Has a Better Dating Pool for Her Post-Joe Manganiello Life
Sofía Vergara has romance on the brain in the new year. Now that her tough personal time and her divorce from Joe Manganiello are behind her, the 51-year-old star is ready to mix and mingle — but not in Los Angeles.
The Modern Family star appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday and shared why she’s looking for a fresh start on love in a different city: New York City. “I love it, who doesn’t love New York City?” Vergara explained to the TV host. “It’s the people, it’s the energy. I think that you have more options with men also. I’m single now!” And for anyone interested in stepping up and taking the talented actress on a date, Vergara has checked off one type of man on her list — no one in the entertainment industry.

“So, in New York, there’s not only like actors or directors, I think…I’m going to spend more time in New York,” she teased with a slight dig at her ex-husband. When Fallon also mentioned that “there’s great food here in New York, too,” Vergara chimed in with hints about a potential date. “There’s great food for when you go out on dates. It’s better, yes,” she joked. So for anyone taking notes, the actress wants a delicious meal with someone not in the entertainment industry, but possibly from New York.
Vergara dabbled in the dating pool last fall when she was seen out on the town with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman, but it seemed to be a very casual situation. Manganiello has moved onto what appears to be a more serious relationship with Winning Time actress Caitlin O’Connor and they’ve already made their red-carpet debut together.
In the wake of Vergara and Manganiello’s very A-list breakup, she revealed to CBS Sunday Morning earlier this week that their divorce announcement surprisingly “wasn’t bad.” She appreciated that the press “kind of just said what it was and that was it.” It probably helped that she and her former husband made it an amicable split and didn’t badmouth each other in the headlines.
Vergara is now focused on promoting her upcoming Netflix limited series, Griselda, where she dramatically transformed herself into the ambitious Colombian businesswoman, who created one of the most profitable cartels in history. It’s a great start to 2024 for Vergara, who is ready to add in a splash of romance to her successful career.
