Snoke, Phasma, Hux: Actors behind 'Last Jedi' baddies relish their roles on the dark side
They’re major players in the biggest action movie franchise in the universe… and they’re firmly on the wrong side of history when it comes to the battle of good vs. evil, light vs. dark, in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. But don’t think Andy Serkis (Supreme Leader Snoke), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), and Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma) are suffering from hero envy.
“It’s better to get a reaction than no reaction,” Christie told Yahoo Entertainment at the film’s Los Angeles press day (watch above).
Gleeson agreed: “I feel good being on the dark side; that’s the place to be,” he laughed.
Allow the motion-capture master Serkis to explain why the trio is ultimately performing a public service: “There are so many bad people out there in the world at the moment, so it’s good to sort of take them as an example. … There are two ways of approaching this world and this existence that we have. You can be a person who helps, a person who gives. Or you can just take.
“These guys are the takers.”
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now playing.
