‘SNL’: Lady Gaga Turns Friendly’s Birthday Prank Into Satanic Ritual
An attempt to get a free birthday sundae at Friendly’s turned into a satanic ritual, with Lady Gaga serving as both waitress and master of ceremonies in the Saturday Night Live sketch.
In the sketch, a group of four friends sit down at the still-in-business restaurant chain (“What are you, an idiot? They still have 100 locations throughout the East Coast,” Bowen Yang clarified) famed for celebrating birthdays with singing waiters (including Gaga’s Daphne) and free sundaes.

However, Yang lies and tells the staff its the birthday of Heidi Gardner’s Jenny, and when pressed by the incredulous staff — “You swear to all the gods in all the heavens that this day, the 8th of March, is your true birthday?” Gaga’s Daphne demands — Jenny commits to the free sundae scheme, resulting in a shocking and satanic turn of events.
The Friendly’s staff, now dressed in red cloaks, then summoned the demonic Lamashtu, smeared blood on Jenny, and awakened Mola Ram, the leader of the cult from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. As in that film, Mola Ram sacrifices Jenny in a cage destined for the flames but not before ripping out of her heart, which is then served — with ice cream on top — to her sundae-seeking friends.
Gaga was both host and musical guest on the latest episode of SNL, with the singer also delivering a self-deprecating opening monologue and a pair of Mayhem performances.
