The Sneaky Way Real Fans Knew Christina and Josh Hall Were Headed For Divorce

After two years of marriage, Christina and Josh Hall are going their separate ways. Today, Josh filed for the dissolution of his marriage with the HGTV star, citing irreconcilable differences. Similarly, TMZ reports that Christina also filed for divorce on Monday, but her request has yet to be processed. In addition to asking for spousal support from the Christina on the Coast star, Josh is requesting the rights to all HGTV and Discovery Network shows and specials the couple produced during their marriage.
Though Christina and Josh's announcement was the breakup that many people did not see coming, some eagle-eyed fans noticed a few changes to the HGTV stars' social media pages. Not only did Christina remove Josh's name from her Instagram profile, but Josh also didn't post a happy birthday message to his wife last week. Others on Reddit are convinced that Christina deleted a few pictures of her with Josh. Though this week's court documents list their separation date as July 8, the day before Christina's birthday, some fans seemed to have a sixth sense about their relationship and asked Christina if the twosome were still together in her Instagram comments.
Since neither Christina nor Josh have released a public statement about the divorce, there is so much about this split we don't know. However, the biggest question we have is what's going to happen to Christina's HGTV career? While we definitely think Christina on the Coast will continue, she and Josh were set to team up for The Flip Off. "They have to stay together at least for the sake of this new show coming out," one person on Reddit wrote. "Even if it is just for show."
Sure, HGTV could always edit Josh's parts out post-production, but the entire show centers around Christina and Tarek El Moussa competing in a renovation challenge with their respective partners. In other words, a two-against-one challenge feels a little...well, unfair. Since the show isn't slated to premiere until 2025, Christina and Josh will have to spend a long time simultaneously working together and navigating their divorce. And who knows? If Josh does receive rights to the shows they filmed as a couple, could he potentially put the kibosh on the entire series? Um, we hope not.
We think it's more likely that we just won't see as much of Josh in The Flip Off. But some fans have a different theory. "They are only hyping with these silly promos that Josh isn't even in," one person wrote. "I wonder if she will just replace him with James [Bender]."
Though we'll have to wait and see what happens to Christina, Josh, and the show, we are wishing both parties the best.
