Sneaker Style at the Grammys Through the Years
While some stars might dress up in formal shoes like high heels or Oxfords for the Grammy Awards, others like to lace up a pair of sneakers. The awards show celebrating achievements in the music industry has seen all sorts of fashions grace its red carpet and stage over the last several decades — and that includes a wide array of sneakers.
Whether it was Avril Lavigne wearing black Converse in 2003 or Flavor Flav wearing Off-White sneakers in 2023, plenty of athletic lace-up styles have been seen at the event through the years. Some of these shoes have complemented a more casual outfit, like the Etnies skater sneakers Billie Eilish paired with a oversized jeans a yellow top while performing “Birds of a Feather” at the 2025 Grammys. On the other hand, Justin Bieber once wore white Supra Skytop sneakers with a white tuxedo at the 2011 Grammys, displaying how sneakers can also go with a formal ensemble.

Even more celebrities have shown different ways of styling sneakers for a chic Grammys look. In 2024, Jelly Roll wore Louis Vuitton sneakers and Ed Sheeran wore Stella McCartney sneakers to go with casually cool ensembles, among other stars who went the sneaker route that year. More examples were seen at the 2025 Grammys, where Benson Boone’s blue Adidas kicks featuring sparkling stripes matched a sequined blue outfit.
