Sinead O’Connor reveals years of physical and sexual abuse from her mother
Singer Sinead O’Connor sat down for an intense interview on Dr. Phil in which she said her mother physically and sexually abused her for most of her childhood. O’Connor was interviewed at a mental health facility where she is being treated.
“It was a torture chamber. She took delight with a smile in hurting you,” O’Connor said.
She went on to detail years of physical and sexual abuse that have caused the singer to attempt suicide eight times in the past year.
In August, O’Connor posted a troubling and tearful video to her Facebook page, and Dr. Phil reached out to help her get the treatment she needed.
She later told Dr. Phil, “I’m very excited to be getting some proper help.”
