‘Simmer Down Sir!’ DWTS’ Carrie Ann Inaba Fires Back at Fan on Live TV
Carrie Ann Inaba was taking no disrespect on “Dedication” night of Dancing With the Stars Season 33. The episode kicked off with a contemporary routine to Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” by actress Chandler Kinney and pro Brandon Armstrong.
Kinney, who is a frontrunner on Dancing With the Stars Season 33 and has earned some of this season’s highest scores, received mixed reviews from judges Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli, as well as guest judge Mark Ballas. When it came for Inaba to give her review, she was preemptively booed by the audience. “Shh! Simmer down, sir!” she said before critiquing Kinney on her connection to the audience.

Fans slammed Inaba on X after the moment for her criticism toward Kinney. “Ok how do we get Carrie Ann replaced? #DWTS,” a user wrote. Another user tweeted, “What is Carrie Ann even talking about this time #DWTS.” One more user wrote, “i’m already mad at Carrie Ann… wtf #DWTS.”
However, the booing didn’t stop there. Inaba was booed again when she critiqued gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik and pro Rylee Arnold’s Argentine tango to The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.” “You’re still a tiny bit wobbly. I saw it,” Inaba said before the audience booed her. She then got up from her seat with her jaw dropped before returning back to her chair. “It’s OK. Boo me all you want,” she said. Host Alfonso Ribeiro added, “Carrie Ann, the entire audience gave you the stink eye.”

Inaba previously told Parade in 2023 that she doesn’t care about being booed. “The whole point is we want people to have their opinions. The reason why people get vested in this competition is because they have an opinion, and it matters. We are one of the few [shows where ] judges actually hold up scores. So, what we do matters, but also what everybody does at home matters. So, it’s good that they boo. I think it shows that they’re really supporting somebody. In fact, they’re very invested this season, let me say,” she said.
