Sheinelle Jones Shuts Down Craig Melvin on 'Today': 'I Don't Need Your Pity'
Sheinelle Jones might be admittedly "petite," but her size certainly doesn't matter when it comes to standing her ground.
The morning talk show host had to get a little firm with colleague Craig Melvin during the Friday, July 5 episode of Today's 3rd hour, when the co-hosts got into a spirited conversation about airplane etiquette.
While talking specifically about the overhead storage on planes, Jones opened up to Melvin, and their co-hosts Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer about the challenges of reaching the overhead bins as a "petite" person.
"You know me, I'm petite, right? I'm four foot 11", Jones, 46, said. "And so it's always interesting because I can't reach it and never can."
Melvin, 45, seemed to be particularly shocked by Jones' admission, turning to her and sympathetically asking, "You can't reach the overhead bin?"
"That's sad," he said with sadness in his voice. "I didn't realize you were that short."
But Jones wasn't telling the story for sympathy points, and instead fired back at Melvin, "I don't need your pity I'm telling you a story."
Roker, 69, then chimed in to say, "It's not like it's held her life back," and joking, "Poor Sheinelle."
"Yeah I'm okay," Jones said, while the table of co-hosts all giggled over the conversation. "I'm telling you the story not for pity, I'm okay," she insisted.
Leave it to Roker to add even more insult to injury, poking fun at Jones by quipping, "She's actually starring in Stuart Little 4," to which Jones replied, "You what, you're never gonna know my story."
