Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne Perform Street Theater Version of ‘The Lion King’ on ‘The Late Late Show’
James Corden revisited his “Crosswalk the Musical” segment on The Late Late Show, where Corden and friends do live performances of famous musicals at intersection crosswalks. This time, host Corden brought in Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne for a rendition of The Lion King. Corden assembled a cast of actors on the roof of CBS. Although Byrne was excited, Rogen was, admittedly, confused. “I think there’s been a mistake,” said Rogen. “I thought I was just here to be one of the people on the couch.”
Corden cast himself as Simba, naturally, with Byrne doubling as Timon and Nala. Rogen, however, was shunted to the background, playing, in fact, the background (such as Trees and the Moon). Then it was time to take their production to the big stage — Genesee Avenue and Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles. Tensions ran high throughout the performance, but the often-lackluster Rogen finally stepped up to the plate by the end of the show.
