See Pete Davidson Return to ‘SNL’ for Latest John Mulaney-Hosted Musical Sketch
Pete Davidson returned to Saturday Night Live for the first time in a year to take part in the latest Broadway musical-inspired sketch in a John Mulaney-hosted episode.
In the spirit of “Airport Sushi,” “Bodega Bathroom,” “Diner Lobster” and “Subway Churro,” Mulaney and his SNL company presented “Port Authority Duane Reade,” which comes to life after the (now-tattooless) Davidson asks Mulaney’s cashier for an expired, overheated carton of (possum) milk before his bus ride back to Boston.

From there, the sketch parodied songs from The Lion King, Les Miserables, The Sound of Music, and Hamilton, with Andy Samberg transforming that musical’s opening number into a rap about the dead bear RFK Jr. killed and left in Central Park.
As if the sketch wasn’t funny enough, Mulaney attempted to make Davidson laugh mid-sketch by breaking character and calling Davidson “Pete.” “Thanks, John,” Davidson smiled back before the two friends reassumed their characters.
Davidson last appeared on SNL in October 2023, when he served as the host of the Season 49-opening episode. Since releasing a Netflix comedy special and discontinuing his series Bupkis in early 2024, the actor-comedian has largely kept a low profile, with Davidson reportedly checking himself into a wellness facility for mental health treatment this past summer.
