Second Sunday Cinema Day highlights Four State filmmakers and their creations
WEBB CITY, Mo. — Several award-winning local filmmakers gather under one roof today to show off their best productions.
It was all part of Great Wonders Production’s Second Sunday Cinema Day at the historic Route 66 Theatre in Webb City.
Each month, the screenings highlight films that have won awards at the Uplift Film Fest.
This month, the event is featuring 6 different sci-fi and fantasy films produced in the Four State area.
Showings included “Sheol,” “Old Times Not Forgotten,” “The Copy Box,” “Wisher Maddox,” “The Illumination Game,” and “Dragon Saga.”
“If you don’t know about it, nobody rents it. So it’s tough. They don’t have millions of dollars in marketing like Hollywood. So we’re giving them an opportunity to get their foot in the door. And we have other theaters now that are working with us. We have the Plaza Theater in Lamar, the Flick Theater in Anderson, and we’re getting other theaters to join in and make this a bigger deal,” said Steve Head, Great Wonder Productions President.
A portion of the ticket sales goes to local filmmakers who took part in the event.
