Savannah Guthrie Reveals the 'Today' Christmas Party Cost Her a Tooth
While Today anchors like Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb seem put-together every time they appear on TV, off-screen, they have normal, everyday struggles like anyone else, and, in Guthrie's case, this included losing a tooth in a unique way.
Guthrie told the memorable story after a fan asked her to recount the adventure on Watch What Happens Live, hosted by Andy Cohen. While sitting beside Kotb, she began, "That was the Christmas party, which like, when you're at the Today show Christmas party, it starts at, like, 3 p.m. A lot of day drinking."
She remembered everyone leaving except for herself, Sheinelle Jones, Dylan Dreyer, Jenna Bush Hager and Laura Jarrett, before going on, "The next thing I know, [in] the morning I wake up, I'm like, 'I feel like something's missing!'"
"A molar was gone!" shouted Kotb, and Guthrie shared that she had no idea where the tooth was, with people jokingly telling her, "Maybe it's at the Pebble Bar," a bar close to Rockefeller Center that the cast must've drank at during the Christmas celebrations.
Kotb jumped in again, explaining that Guthrie waited more than a few weeks to go to the dentist and get the tooth fixed, while her co-anchor used the excuse that it was a busy time with the holidays and everything else going on, adding with a shrug, "You couldn't see it, it was a molar."
While there are sometimes serious moments on the Today show, the charming cast often brings a lighthearted attitude and humor to the set, leading to memorable moments like this.
Another such moment happened earlier this year when Guthrie joked about her lack of a poker face, sharing her bright facial expressions as she reacted to something while filming. Fans laughed along with the host, with a few joking that she could use "a smidge more practice."
