Sam Champion Returning To ‘Good Morning America’ — Briefly
Former Good Morning America weather vet Sam Champion is returning to the show next week on January 11 to fill in for ABC News’ Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee as part of Zee’s maternity leave, ABC announced today. Senior Meteorologist Rob Marciano will be filling in for Zee for the remainder of her leave.
After seven years on GMA, Champion handed over the weather reins to Zee on December 4, 2013, signing off with his familiar catchphrase, “That’s the weather around the nation, ladies and gentleman.” He later moved on to a role a The Weather Channel
Champion most recently appeared on GMA in November during the show’s 40th reunion celebration.
Zee gave birth last month to her first child, a son named Adrian Benjamin.
