O’Dessa is set in a post-apocalyptic future and centers on the titular character (Sink) venturing from her family’s farm on a quest to track down a missing heirloom. Along the way, O’Dessa finds herself in a strange city, where she falls in love and must later use the power of song to save her beau’s soul.
“My daddy used to tell me my singing had the power to bring light to the darkness and change things,” Sink says in the trailer.
Later, Harrison tells Sink, “When you sang to me earlier tonight, it reminded me of how beautiful some things are.”
Michael Gottwald and Noah Stahl serve as producers for O’Dessa.
Sink is best known for her role as Max Mayfield on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, which is gearing up to release its fifth and final season. She has appeared in such films as the Fear Street franchise and The Whale.
Jasper previously wrote and directed the music-focused drama feature Patti Cake$, which Fox Searchlight Pictures released theatrically in 2017. Prior to that, Jasper directed music videos for Selena Gomez and Florence and the Machine.
