Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 33, claps back at criticism over age-gap with wife Sam Taylor-Johnson, 57: ‘Bizarre’
Aaron Taylor-Johnson finds the public’s criticism about the 24-year age gap between him and his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson, “bizarre.”
The 33-year-old actor — who is rumored to be the new James Bond — made a rare comment about his marriage to Sam, 57, in a Rolling Stone UK interview, reminding readers that he’s an older soul thanks to his child acting days.
“What you gotta realize is that what most people were doing in their 20s, I was doing when I was 13,” Aaron told the rock bible about starting his professional career at 6 years old.
“You’re doing something too quickly for someone else? I don’t understand that. What speed are you supposed to enjoy life at? It’s bizarre to me,” he added.
The pair met on the set of “Nowhere Boy” in 2009 when he was 18 and Sam was 42. She directed the John Lennon biopic, which Aaron starred in.
Aaron and Sam wed in 2012, and are now parents to daughters Wylda, 13, and Romy Hero, 11, as well as Angelica, 25, and Jessie, 15, from Sam’s first marriage.

While Aaron gushed to Rolling Stone UK that his wife and frequent collaborator is “a great filmmaker and a wonderful storyteller,” the Marvel star admitted that criticism around their relationship isn’t always “Kick-Ass.”
“There’s a protectiveness that I feel,” he explained. “I think it’s really difficult. There’s also part of me that feels like if something didn’t work, I’m the one that’s responsible.”
He concluded about the interest surrounding his private life, “People see and perceive this thing around my career, and that’s OK. But I’m just trying to juggle my family and my work. I’m doing normal life; dentist appointments. Career doesn’t necessarily take a back seat, but it takes a different thought behind the choices that you make.”
Aaron’s remarks come shortly after sources told The Sun that he has been “formally offered” the chance to play James Bond in a new flick by EON Productions, which makes 007 films, that is said to be preparing to film later this year.
“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it,” an insider told the outlet. “The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.”
Aaron’s acceptance would succeed Daniel Craig, who starred as Bond in a total of five films spanning over 15 years.
