The Rochester Thaw music festival returns this weekend
Mar. 20—ROCHESTER — Three days before The Rochester Thaw music festival, the event appears poised for a second consecutive sellout.
Rochester Thaw, which returned in 2023 after a two-year hiatus, will bring music to six downtown Rochester venues Saturday March 23, 2024.
Only a few dozen tickets remain, organizers announced Wednesday.
Monica LaPlante along with fellow Minnesota rocker Mae Simpson, who
packed Cook Park in June as part of Rochester Civic Music's ForWARD concert series,
headline along with hip-hop artist NUR-D.
The same six downtown Rochester venues that hosted music last year will host 30 performances throughout the day. The first acts are scheduled for 3 p.m. Two 2023 acts, Hiahli and
Burly Bluffs burlesque troupe,
are returning from last year's festival.
Bleu Duck, Art Heads Emporium, Cafe Steam, L.C.'s Venue, Treedome and the Chateau Theater will each feature a full lineup of music.
Hiahli performed at Treedome last year to a capacity crowd forcing some fans to miss out. The hip-hop/rock band blends musicianship with hip-hop lyrics over deep, bassy rhythms. They'll be in a larger capacity venue this year.
