The RHOSLC Cast Teases "A Huge Change" Behind the Scenes at the Season 5 Photoshoot
The rumors are true: The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is back for another season filled with “Receipts! Proof! Timeline! Screenshots!” Ahead of Season 5, The Daily Dish took a trip to Utah to chat with the ‘Wives while they prepared to have their press portraits and cast photo taken. From unpacking their looks to teasing some very unexpected changes in store, read on for all of the behind-the-scenes details.
Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Angie Katsanevas, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose, Mary Cosby, as well as first-time 'Wife Bronwyn Newport and new friends Britani Bateman and Meili Workman, stunned in an avalanche-themed photoshoot. Season 5 promises an “avalanche of fractured friendships, earth-shattering rumors and high fashion,” so it’s only fitting that the imagery channeled the same bone-chilling vibes.
"We wanted to depict them as tough and resilient in empowering poses, as a united front coming out of the iconic Season 4 finale," Bravo's Creative Team told The Daily Dish.

The ladies rocked various shades of purple, serving sequins, pleats, feathers, and dramatic capes. Each 'fit was carefully considered to bring the bad weather vibes to life, according to Bravo's Creative Team: "Knowing that we were going for a windy mountain-top atmosphere, the goal was to give the wardrobe an opportunity to be affected by the environment. We wanted elegant, flowing gowns and a mix of styles and lengths."
While the women weren't actually weathering a storm on set, you'd never know by looking at the photos. For example, the dramatic overskirt on Heather's dress was perfect for creating a windswept illusion.
The purple color was also an intentional choice to give the cast a regal flair.
“I think purple represents royalty,” Angie said of the cast’s gorgeous monochrome looks. “The inspiration for my look today is very glamorous and royal.”
Meredith also shared that she was feeling inspired to get a little more glammed up than usual. “I have a go-to look, which is usually pretty neutral,” the jewelry designer explained. “But we added a little bit of shimmer and sparkle today to make it a little different.”
Heather Gay and Lisa Barlow Tease Dramatic Season 5 Changes
The snowy avalanche in the cast photos was the result of impressive special effects, but the storm of drama it symbolizes is very real. In their downtime on set, the cast members dished on what fans can expect to see this season.
When asked about which returning 'Wife has changed the most since fans saw them last, Heather shared the stark difference she’s noticed in Mary, who is back as a full-time cast member.
“She just started participating,” Heather said of her fellow cast member, who has been known to hang back on the group’s iconic sprinter van and snack on McDonalds while the rest of the ladies spend time with one another. “She rope-climbed, she zip lined, she camped, she did a bonfire… she rode in an ATV with mud all over her Fendi. I mean, she totally got down and dirty with us and I thought it was a huge change.”
Lisa, on the other hand, teased that she’s feeling like a different person lately, as well. “I’m fed up,” she said, alluding to some tension between herself and another cast member, which viewers can watch unfold this season.
New RHOSLC Cast Members & Friends Weigh In on Season 5
As for the newbies? Bronwyn looks forward to sharing a peek into her life.
"I am most excited for everyone to see my home life. I have a different set up at home than some of the other ladies have. I have six dogs, so I'm almost running like, a dog rescue. They wear matching jammies every night and the dogs are the center of my whole family," she said. "Of course, I love my husband. Of course, I love my daughter. But I'm excited for the Bravo fans to meet my dogs."
Britani, who mentioned she had not watched an episode of the show prior to filming, has been "surprised" by the experience. "I don't know what I expected, but the first dinner that I went to... I couldn't believe my eyes."
With that said, Britani reflected on her RHOSLC journey thus far: "It's been really good for me," she said. "It pushed me to the point of almost breaking, and that made me a much stronger person. Like, much, much stronger than before we started filming."
Meili also opened up about her earliest days with the group. “I feel like, at a baseline, everyone does get along really well. I think that was shocking to me. I expected more harshness. I don’t feel like I got that out of the gate. Now as the season progressed… it was a different story,” she laughed.
