‘RHOBH’ Star Dorit Kemsley on Separation From Paul “PK” Kemsley: Divorce Not “Even a Topic of Conversation”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Dorit Kemsley is giving more insight into her separation from husband Paul “PK” Kemsley after nine years of marriage.
During a conversation with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live following the season 14 premiere on Tuesday, the fashion designer and Bravo personality revealed that she and PK are doing well after announcing their separation in May. The news of their separation played out during Tuesday night’s premiere, with Kemsley opening up to some of the cast before their separation made headline news.

“Things are good. We are friendly, and we’re communicating, and things are status quo,” she said on the Bravo late night show, before being asked by the host to clarify if they are divorced. “No, and nor is it even a topic of conversation.”
Dorit, speaking now six months after announcing the news, explained that her kids don’t really know that their parents are separated, despite their father staying in an apartment in town, noting they think he’s just staying there for work. Dorit and PK, when opening up about their decision during the RHOBH premiere, said they weren’t planning on telling their kids, aged 8 and 10.
“As long as PK and I are friendly and things are pretty normal for them, they’re OK,” she told Cohen. “When PK and I decided to separate, we didn’t know what we were going to do, so we thought, ‘Why don’t we figure it out first, so that when they’re asking us questions, we’ve got answers?’ I’m going to be guided by my kids. If my kids are asking me questions, I’m going to be honest with them, and you kind of learn to understand what they want to hear, what they don’t, what they’re comfortable with.”
Prior to announcing their split, Dorit had shared that they were better than ever during last season’s RHOBH reunion, but, as she opened up about during the premiere, she says everything then came crashing down. On the show, she called PK an alcoholic and cited fighting and distance between them after her at-home attack as reasons for the split, the latter which also played out during the series. On the premiere, Dorit and PK said he was now sober.
“A week ago, there was a moment and it was over nothing, and one thing led to another, and we sat down like two very mature adults who love and care about one another and mutually decided that taking some space,” Dorit told castmember Erika Jayne during the premiere of the inciting incident.
Elsewhere in the WWHL appearance, the TV personality admitted she was surprised when her RHOBH co-star, Kyle Richards, texted PK first following the news of their separation, which they announced in a joint statement in May.
“We as a couple have been subject to a lot of speculation about our marriage. We have had our struggles over the last few years and continue to work through them as two people who love each other and share two amazing children together,” the Kemsleys wrote on Instagram Stories at the time.
They continued, “To safeguard our deep friendship and maintain a harmonious environment for our children we have made the mutual and difficult decision to take some time apart and re-evaluate our relationship while we prioritize our children. We appreciate your love and support while we continue to do the work necessary throughout this journey.”
