Restaurant News: Popular Ormond Beach BBQ restaurant to expand this fall
Known for its smothered wings and popular barbecue selections, Pumphouse BBQ is taking its Granada Boulevard eatery up a notch with its brand-new expansion, set to open this fall.
The local restaurant began teasing its upcoming changes on social media over the summer, noting that new hours, new space and new entertainment were in the works and coming soon. With its opening tentatively scheduled for the beginning of November, the casual eatery hopes to bring an even better-than-before dining experience to new and returning customers.
According to owner Robert West, the popular wing and ribs spot is expanding into the rest of Pumphouse’s current building location — nearly 2,000 extra square feet of space that will be used for a variety of highly-anticipated new additions, including more than doubling the existing bar’s limited seating area.

“Our bar is pretty small right now,” West said in a phone interview. “We’re almost tripling the size of it, basically. A lot of people would come in and didn’t have a seat before, so we’re trying to remedy that and make sure everyone has a spot to sit down when they come in.”
Alongside the extended bar, the eatery plans to install a small stage where customers can enjoy live music with their meal on the weekends, as well as an extended seating area for full-service dining, a private dining option and a rentable space for special events.
The eatery will also adjust its hours of operation with the new expansion, and will soon be open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Once the anticipated expansion opens, West noted that the local restaurant will offer several happy hour specials and host a plethora of evening and weekend events, such as Superbowl Sunday, where a range of free, sit-out appetizers will be available for customers to dig into as they watch the big game.
“I want to have a space where people can come in to sit down and be served and just enjoy their meal with friends and family,” West said. “Overall, I want to make it a more inviting space.”
The Ormond Beach barbecue spot’s savory menu features a range of juicy handhelds from The Grilled C’s slow roasted pork grilled cheese and The Peppered Pig pulled pork barbecue sandwich, to the Brisket Bacon Burger, Pump Mac Burger and cheesy, slow roasted, pulled pork-filled Pumphouse Cuban.
For those looking for a smaller portion, the restaurant’s famous Pumphouse wings come in an eight-count serving, smoked then fried and smothered in your choice of Alabama, Buffalo or house BBQ sauce.
The eatery also offers a range of tempting main plates, like the Texas brisket and Pumphouse Pulled Chicken, both served as an entrée with two sides or as a dinner with three sides and cornbread, as well as the baby back ribs, fried ribs and St. Louis spare ribs, available in quarter, half and full servings.
Pumphouse BBQ is located at 124 W. Granada Blvd. in Ormond Beach and will be open 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and closed Tuesday. For information, call 386-492-7559 or visit thepumphousebbq.com.
