Restaurant news: Popular Florida-born brewery closes Port Orange location

This Florida-born brewery has closed the doors to its frequented Port Orange location after less than two years in business.

Persimmon Hollow Brewing Company, owned by best friends Andy Sistrunk and Robbie Carelli, opened its very first location nearly a decade ago in DeLand. Since then, the brewery went on to open several other locations across Florida, and “quickly found its way into taps and store shelves,” according to its website.

However, the brewery announced on social media this week that it would be closing the doors to its Port Orange location, 4647 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., stating, "We are sad to announce that we made the difficult decision to close our location in Port Orange as part of our company’s reorganization plan. We would like to thank our team, our guests and all our vendors for accompanying us along the ride at this location. You can still visit us at our DeLand and Lake Eola locations. You can also find our beer on tap at many of your favorite restaurants throughout Florida, and of course on retail shelves wherever great beer is sold. As always, 'Drink sensibly, but get weird.'"

The Facebook post detailing the Port Orange location’s closure came just over a month after the brewery announced the closure of its Flamingo Crossings Town Center location in Winter Garden.

The frequented brewery is known for its craft beers and varied menu selections enjoyed by new and seasoned beer lovers alike, ranging from the Beach Hippie IPA, Blood Orange Wheat American Pale Wheat and Citra Lager to the Belgian Amber, Tom Hale Brown Ale and Freddy Fitz Belgian stout. The brewery also offered beer flights, and small plates including fries, pizzas, tacos and more.

Persimmon Hollow Brewing Company did not immediately respond to a request for comment. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
