'Rent' to take over the Palace Theatre stage in August; annual meeting set for Aug. 27
The Marion Palace Theatre will present "Rent" Aug. 23-25.
"Rent" is a rock musical that tells the story of a group of young artists and friends in New York City's East Village. As they struggle with poverty, love and the impact of HIV/AIDS, they find strength and inspiration in their community.
The show is rated R for adult themes and language.
Performances are slated for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 23 and 24 and 2 p.m. Aug. 25. Ticket prices are $27 and $29 for adults and $16 for students and can be purchased at the Marion Palace Theatre box office weekdays except Wednesday or online at marionpalace.org.

PCCA to hold annual meeting
The Palace Cultural Arts Association (PCAA) will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Palace Theatre's May Pavilion, 276 W. Center St. Board members will be elected and discussion will be held on various organizational matters. Community members and PCAA members are encouraged to attend.
