Relativity Studios Postpones Three Films Indefinitely (EXCLUSIVE)

Relativity Studios has quietly removed three of its titles from the release calendar, a signal that the bankrupt studio has no plans to debut the films until after it is sold at auction.
“The Disappointments Room,” a horror film with Kate Beckinsale, and “Before I Wake,” another horror film with Kate Bosworth, were both slated for Sept. 25, 2015. Raunchy comedy “The Bronze” was previously scheduled for an Oct. 16, 2015 launch. All are now listed as “unset.”
A company spokesman declined to comment.
The move is not surprising, considering that the films were formally scheduled to hit theaters in the coming weeks, but Relativity’s financial woes had prevented the studio from marketing the pictures. In August, the studio postponed “Masterminds,” a comedy with Zach Galifianakis, indefinitely.
These films have been the subject of a lawsuit from RKA Film Financing, which says it is owed more than $75 million for promotional loans. The film financing company claims the money was diverted to Relativity’s general operating expenses.
Relativity, which counts films such as “The Immortals” and “Act of Valor,” as well as TV shows like “Catfish” to its credit, filed for bankruptcy protection in July, citing assets of $560 million and liabilities of $1.18 billion. An auction of the company is planned for Oct. 1.
