Ray J and Princess Love may be splitting for good, but the singer wants her to know he’ll always love her.
During his appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast on Wednesday, June 5, the “Sexy Can I” artist, 43, opened up about his ongoing divorce from his estranged wife, 39, which marks their fourth time filing in their nearly eight-year marriage. While the pair, who got married in 2016, announced their latest split in February, Ray J told host Shannon Sharpe he still cares for Love very much and “will never be in love with somebody else.”
“When you love someone, I think you love one time in each life cycle,” he shared. “... There's one person you love, and I love that person, and that’s Princess.”

Ray J explained that he’s not sure what exactly caused his most recent divorce filing with Love but assured that he’s still “making sure she’s involved with everything I'm doing” on the TV shows he produces and that the parents of two are “spending a lot of time with the kids.”
The vocalist acknowledged that he’d be “devastated, of course” if his soon-to-be ex-wife moved on before the two had a chance to reconcile again. However, he also said he’d “just have to deal” if Love “loves again or finds somebody else.”
“Just because the person I love goes out to experience life — I mean, everybody deserves that,” the singer-songwriter noted. “You only get one life. When we're both 75, you know, God willing, or 80 or 85, and we're sitting at the table, and she asks me, ‘Did you live it up?’ And I'm like, ‘S---. Yeah, I did.’ When I ask her, I want her to say the same [thing].”
Ray J continued on, explaining, “I had to train myself to get to that point” of understanding with Love being done with their marriage.
“A man realizing that a woman is moving on or don't wanna f--- with him no more is a mind f---,” he explained. “... And so, for me, I had to get over that and then understand that everything should be equal.”
When asked if there’s a chance for him and Love to get back together, Ray J insisted, “It always is… even if it's final with papers.”
“That doesn't stop us from loving each other or understanding and learning each other as we go because we're still co-parenting,” he added. “We both love our kids, and we both love being around each other, with the kids and without the kids. It's just sometimes, time apart heals all. And I think when you get older, you kinda realize that.”
As of right now, the “One Wish” singer seemed adamant about not exploring anything serious with anyone amid his divorce, saying, “I’m never dating again.”
Speaking on whether he still wants his wife back, Ray J replied, “I want her to know that I'm never going anywhere, and she knows that.”
He continued, “And so together, through these phases, I just wanna make sure that we're good and the kids know that we're still a solid unit together. That's very important.”

Love made her divorce from Ray J known in a statement posted on Instagram on Feb. 26. “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our decision to divorce,” she revealed. “After much reflection, discussion, and counseling, we have come to the difficult realization that our paths have diverged, and it is in the best interest of both of us to part ways.”
The former reality TV star added that the couple’s “decision was made thoughtfully and with mutual respect and consideration for each other’s well-being.” “While our relationship as spouses may be coming to an end, we remain committed to co-parenting our children and maintaining a positive and supportive family dynamic,” her statement concluded.
Following Love’s divorce filing, Ray J asked for joint legal and physical custody of their kids — daughter Melody, 6, and son Epik, 4 — and that most of their assets be kept separate, per court documents previously obtained by PEOPLE.
The “What I Need” artist also asked that spousal support for Love be determined at a later date.
Love first filed for divorce from her estranged husband in May 2020 (after she reportedly claimed to be filing in November 2019). She later filed for a dismissal in July 2020. However, Ray J then filed for divorce two months later before calling it off in March 2021. The R&B performer filed for divorce again in October 2021. In March 2023, he was granted a dismissal after hinting that the couple had reconciled in December 2022.
