Neil deGrasse Tyson Tries to Teach Rapper B.o.B That the World Is Not Flat
Sorry, B.o.B., but you’re on your own here….
The rapper, whom you may remember for the 2010 ubiquitous singles, “Nothin’ on You” and “Airplanes,” reemerged in the zeitgeist on Sunday to make the case that the Earth is flat. Really.
It all started with an apocalyptic-looking photo of the 27-year-old musician standing on some ice somewhere, with the caption, “The cities in the background are approx. 16 miles apart… where is the curve? please explain this.”

Despite getting, as expected, schooled on Twitter over his post, the rapper stayed resolute, writing, “A lot of people are turned off by the phrase 'flat earth’ … but there’s no way u can see all the evidence and not know… grow up.”

This rapper has since been on an honest-to-God rant about the issue, which you can follow on his Twitter feed if you have an hour to die of laughter.
“You can regurgitate force fed information all day… still doesn’t change physics,” he tweeted. In another, B.o.B. wrote: “No matter how high in elevation you are… the horizon is always eye level … sorry cadets… I didn’t wanna believe it either.”

Unsurprisingly, B.o.B.’s barrage of tweets have prompted a response from pop culture’s favorite astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson.
The 57-year-old scientist responded to a few of the rapper’s tweets, trying to explain the fault in his logic.
@bobatl Earth’s curve indeed blocks 150 (not 170) ft of Manhattan. But most buildings in midtown are waaay taller than that.

@bobatl Polaris is gone by 1.5 deg S. Latitude. You’ve never been south of Earth’s Equator, or if so, you’ve never looked up.

However, perhaps realizing the futility of this discussion, Tyson appeared to give up, writing, “Flat Earth is a problem only when people in charge think that way. No law stops you from regressively basking in it.”

“Duude — to be clear: Being five centuries regressed in your reasoning doesn’t mean we all can’t still like your music,” Tyson added.

Meanwhile, B.o.B.’s tweets have since evolved to questioning NASA, the moon landing, and this:
