An award-winning director, writer and producer of film, television, and commercials, Elle Key spent her early years working off-Broadway with theater companies such as Malaparte, Naked Angels, and the Atlantic before producing a number of independent features including Nanette Burstein’s Sundance award-winning documentary American Teen, as well as August with Josh Hartnett, Adam Scott, Naomi Harris, and David Bowie. As co-president and founder of Bigger Picture Media Group, Elle has been writing and directing with, and for, her partner Keegan-Michael Key for almost a decade, including on the original Audible series The History of Sketch Comedy hosted by Keegan-Michael and written by Elle, garnering her a Webby Award for Best Writing. Last year, the pair took the concept of the award-winning podcast and turned it into a book, co-writing The History of Sketch Comedy, which became an acclaimed bestseller, landing a spot on Best Books of 2023 lists from Barnes & Noble and Vulture.
Additionally, under Bigger Picture Media, the duo executive produced CBS’s Game On! and National Geographic’s Brain Games, both hosted by Keegan-Michael. The production company is currently in development on a number of projects across film and television.
Both Keegan-Michael and Elle Key continue to be represented by UTA, Brecheen Feldman Breimer, and Viewpoint.
