R&B singer Khalid releases third album 'Sincere,' watch performance on Today Show
After a long five years, El Paso's favorite R&B star, Khalid, finally has his third album, 'Sincere,' out. The singer appeared on NBC Friday, Aug. 30, morning to promote it on the Today Show. The performance was part of the news station's Citi Concert Series.
The album, released this month, follows the singer's 2019 LP, 'Free Spirit,' and his 2021 mixtape, 'Scenic Drive,' named after one of El Paso's iconic cruising streets.
"Five years later, we're finally here. Thank you for the wait. Sincere, my third studio album is out now! Everywhere," the artist tweeted earlier this month.
In a story in Rolling Stone, Khalid explained why he had been releasing singles while still working on his album. Over the course of 2022 and 2023, he released a string of singles: "Satellite," "Skyline," "Softest Touch," "Wish You Were Here," and "Not Alone" with Joe Jonas.
“I wanted to get the songs out that I personally feel like are on the cusp of making the album and keep those ones that I know for a fact are going to make the album just in that chamber until I feel like the time is right,” he said, speaking to Apple Music 1's Eddie Francis. “I’ve been working on music for the past three years because I really want to be extremely particular with what sound I put out into the world when it comes to my album.”
Where is Khalid from?
He was born in Fort Stewart, Georgia, according to Last FM. His family moved to El Paso, Texas, when he was young, and he attended Americas High School.
