Collie Buddz Signs With Louder Than Life
Reggae artist Collie Buddz (“Come Around”) has signed with Sony Music imprint Louder Than Life, headed by producer and Sony executive VP of A&R Salaam Remi. Buddz is currently in the studio recording his first album under the new deal. The artist’s new track “Light It Up” and its accompanying video premiered March 4 on Vevo.
Salaam Remi’s Flying Buddha Imprint Inks Liam Bailey
Speaking of Remi, his Flying Buddha label — a Sony Music Masterworks imprint — has inked British native Liam Bailey. Formerly signed to Amy Winehouse’s Lioness Records, Bailey will release his debut album this fall to coincide with a U.S. tour. SXSW attendees can catch a preview of the singer/songwriter’s soulful material during two scheduled performances (March 14 and 15).
Sheila E. Celebrating 40 Years with ‘Icon’ Release
Sheila E. is celebrating her 40th anniversary in music with the March 25 digital release of “Icon” (Stiletto Flats Music/BFM Digital), her first album in 12 years. First single “Mona Lisa” is already available. “The Glamorous Life” singer/songwriter and gifted percussionist/drummer (Beyoncé, Ringo Starr, Prince, Lionel Richie) will also chronicle her life in music in the forthcoming book “The Beat of My Own Drum.” It’s due in September.
Hathaway/Studdard Add Tour Dates
New York’s B.B. King’s an Washington, D.C.’s Howard Theatre are among the seven new stops added to Lalah Hathaway’s and Ruben Studdard’s “The Meant to Be Tour.” Their junket kicks off April 5 in Detroit and includes a four-night stint (April 10-13) at Seattle’s Jazz Alley. The tour takes its name from Studdard’s new Verve album “Unconditional Love,” which debuted at No. 7 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
