Publishing Briefs: The Strokes to BMG Chrysalis, St. Vincent and Big Deal, Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley Goes with Wonderlous and Much More
— Wonderlous Music has signed producer/songwriter/DJ/artist Steve “Silk” Hurley to a worldwide publishing administration agreement, covering all of his past, present and future works. The deal includes his Silktone Songs publishing catalog, which includes songs like “Jack Your Body;” “We Got A Love Thang;” “Keep On Walkin’;” Too Blind to See It;” “Take My Advice;” and “The Word Is Love.”
Also included in the deal are master rights owned by Silktone, as well as master and publishing rights owned by S&S Chicago, the dance label jointly owned by Silk and Shannon “DJ Skip” Syas, according to the announcement.

The S&S Chicago has a catalog of over 500 records and album projects from artists such as: Syleena Johnson, CeCe Peniston, Ann Nesby, Fast Eddie, DJ Skip, and Paul Johnson.
“We are… thrilled to be representing Steve’s existing catalog of chart-toppers along with his present and future releases, including the exciting things in store for S&S Chicago in 2014,” says Wonderlous Music CEO and creative director Phil Cialdella said in a statement.
— BMG Chrysalis U.S. have signed the Strokes to a publishing deal, covering the band’s catalog for North America, including “Comedown Machine,” the band’s most recent album released in early 2013.
— Big Deal Music has signed St. Vincent — aka Annie Clark — to a global publishing deal, which will include her entire catalog including songs on her forthcoming, self-titled fourth album. The deal reunites some of the Big Deal principals — Kenny MacPherson and Dave Ayers — with Clark, who they worked with when they were at Chrysalis.
“Annie and her management team at Lever and Beam are truly excited to be able to extend our working relationship with Big Deal Music,“ David Viecelli at Lever and Beam remarked. “Dave and Kenny have shown tremendous support and intuition for years now and are both trusted and highly valued friends.”
Ayers said it exciting to work with “Annie again…since she just delivered a career-defining record.”
— Another Victory Inc., the sister publishing company to Victory Records, continues to complete its worldwide line-up. It entered into an exclusive sub-publishing agreements with: Musou Ltd. Music Publishing, covering Greece and Cyprus; and CTM, covering the Benelux countries of Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg.

— An auction for publishing royalties for select 3 Doors Down songs including “Kryptonite,” is being switched to a securitization deal by the Royalty Exchange. Previously the portion of the songs royalties controlled by the producer of the songs, Paul Ebersold, had been offered as part of an auction that was slated to run from Jan. 28 through Feb. 11, with the expectation that bids would start at $285,000.
— Round Hill Music opened an office in Nashville, headed by Mark Brown, who joins the company as VP/GM. He will work with director of A&R Kari Smith, with the duo providing a foundation for the company’s foray into Nashville. Previously, Brown had worked for Root 49 Music as chief creative officer.
— Warner/Chappel Production has re-launched its improved website, warnerchappellpm.com, as well as revamping its company logo. “Constant improvements to our website and search platform are testament to our ongoing dedication to simplifying our partners’ experience and providing them with an optimal level of service,” Warner/Chappell Production Music president/CEO Randy Wachtler said in a statement. “I’m thrilled with all of our re-branding efforts and look forward to providing the same level of service our clients have grown to know and expect.”
