Prime Video Spain Unveils Thriller Film ā€˜Zetaā€™, Porn Store Drama ā€˜Cochinasā€™, Docs & True-Crime Originals, Multiple Renewals

Prime Video is doubling down in Spain with a slate of new movies, drama series, docs and true-crime shows.

The streamer unveiled its latest slate at a Prime Video Presents event in Madrid last night, with thriller feature Zeta, scripted series Cochinas, a trio of unscripted shows and doc La Joia: Bad Gyal. Original series Reina Roja was confirmed for a third season, while live entertainment show OperaciĆ³n Triunfo has also landed a new season.

Ricardo Cabornero, Director at Prime Video in Spain and Portugal, claimed it had been a ā€œrecord-breaking yearā€ for the service in Iberia as he rolled out the titles.

Spy pic Zeta follows a Spanish CNI agent, Zeta, who is tasked with tracking down a former spy who participated in an undercover mission 35 years before, with a Colombian spook, Alfa, also trying to find him. The other five participants are murdered at the same time at different embassies around the world, and as Zeta and Alfa advance in their investigations, they unearth secrets that have been hidden for decades including the existence of a shadowy spy who may hold the answers to everything.

Mario Casas (No MatarƔs) will star, with Dani de Torre (El Desconocido) directing a script from Oriol Paulo (Los Renglones Torcidos de Dios) and Jordi Vallejo (El Inocente). Fonte Films is producin, with Carla Perez AlbƩniz (Mientras Dure la Guerra) the executive producer and Pablo Isla the producer. It launches soon on Prime Video.

Cochinas follows conservative housewife Nines in Valladolid in 1998, who is forced to take over the family video store when her husband falls into a coma. She discovers the business is bankrupt and that the only genre making them money is porn, and decides to specialize in the genre. Working with foul-mouthed employee Chon and an inveterate movie buff, they turn the store into the cityā€™s first ā€˜porn video club.ā€™

Goya award-winner Elena Anaya (Las Largas Sombras, La Piel que Habito) stars with Oslodije producing. Eneko Gutierrez Sola and Aritz CirbiƔn are the executive producers, with Carlos del Hoyo and Irene Bohoyo the scriptwriters and Andrea Jaurrieta (Nina) directing.

On the true-crime front, Prime Video Spain is adding docu-series CĆ³mo Cazar a un Monstruo, which follows the story of YouTuber and filmmaker Carles Tamayo as he tries to seek justice in the face of the impunity for a child molester living outside the law; Medina: El Estafador de Famosos, about the alleged celebrity scammer Antonio Medina; and Infiltrada en el BĆŗnker, about the longest infiltration of a European pharmaceutical lab

CĆ³mo Cazar a un Monstruo launches on September 6 and comes from BambĆŗ Producciones production with RamĆ³n Campos as producer and writer along with Carles Tamayo, who also serves as director. The five-part Medina: El Estafador de Famosos launches in October and is produced by El Terrat with Jorge Ponce, Lydia Cerrudo, Ricardo Castella and Xen Subiratas as executive producers. Infiltrada en el BĆŗnker is directed by Pablo de la Chica (Mama) and executive produced by Kevin Iglesias and David Casas of Salon Indien Films and with Marias Recarte and Rosaura Romero. Show is due next year.

Original doc La Joia: Bad Gyal follows Spanish singer Bad Gyal, exploring how she attempted to conquer the mainstream while her debut album was postponed for over a year for reasons beyond her control. Vampire Films is making the doc in co-production with Double Body, EntrelĆ­neas and Nanouk Films. David Camarero is the director and the film will premiere on Prime Video at the end of this year. A teaser trailer was dropped during the event.

On the returners front, romantic drama series Citas Barcelona, entertainment show OperaciĆ³n Triunfo, thriller series Reina Roja, comedy series La que se Avecina and unscripted series Pombo and Dulceida: Al Desnudo will get new runs. Action adventure film Apocalipsis Z: El Principio del Fin was given an October 31 airdate and released a trailer, while there were first looks at Citas Barcelona, post-apocalyptic comedy series En Fin, ElĆ­as LeĆ³n Siminianiā€™s El Circo de los Muchachos and docuseries Calleja en el Espacio. Sports doc Courtois: la Vuelta del NĆŗmero 1 is premiering on September 20 and had a trailer released.

Previously announced originals launching in 2025 and beyond include teen comedy Viaje de fin de Curso, starring Berta Casta?Ć© and Yolanda Ramos, and youth drama Enemigos starring emerging actors Christian Checa and Hugo Welzel.

Execs also revealed Culpa MĆ­a has become the most-watched international movie in Prime Videoā€™s history globally. Upcoming original films La Virgen Roja, starring Nawja Nimri and Alba Planas, and teen drama Sigue mi Voz featuring Berta Casta?er and Jae Woo will both launch in cinema before hitting the streamer, on September 27 and February 14 respectively.
