Carl From "Up" Goes On A Date In Pixar’s New Theatrical Short, And People Aren’t Ready
It's been 14 years since the opening sequence of Up had us all crying in our seats.
Even without any words, and within just a few minutes, you truly get enveloped in Carl and Ellie's life together. And then you truly feel the heartbreak when Ellie dies, leaving Carl lost as to what to do with his life without her.
Of course, after the whole adventure, the movie ends with Carl finding some closure and building a friendship with Russell.
Well, earlier today, Disney announced that we would be getting a new short based on Up called Carl's Date, which will play before the new upcoming Pixar film, Elemental.
The short follows Carl as he gets ready for his first date since Ellie's death. Carl's Date is also a tribute to the late Ed Asner, who voiced the character in both the film and this short.
Needless to say, news of the new short had everyone remembering how much they loved Up. So I decided to round up some tweets that truly capture how everyone is feeling about this:
@DiscussingFilm Me in the theater
@Pixar Bring the tissues y'all. The feels train is going to be there
@DiscussingFilm I'm not ready to cry for this
@DiscussingFilm I'm gonna be a wreck
@DiscussingFilm Me acting like this isn't making me emotional:

@DiscussingFilm I'm gonna cry, aren't I....?
@Pixar “You going to go check out our boy Carl?”
And in case you think, Oh, I am not going to cry! Well, a few people have already seen the short, and yes, you truly will.
They also surprised us with a screening of Carl's Date, an incredibly sweet short featuring the late Ed Asner. They've been holding onto it for a while, but it's gonna play before Elemental this June.So, y'know, if the opening of UP still makes you cry... get ready for THAT.
