Paramount Wins Bid Battle for ‘Story of Your Life’

Paramount Pictures has picked up North American rights to “Story of Your Life,” the Denis Villenueve-directed, Amy Adams-starring sci-fi film.
The studio reportedly paid $20 million for the pic after a bid battle that narrowed from five studios down to just two.
Further discussions could give Par rights in China as well.
Villeneuve (“Prisoners,” “Incendies”) is directing an adaptation of a prize-winning Ted Chiang short story. The movie is being written by Eric Heisserer.
Adams will play a linguist in the military who attempts to hold a dialogue with aliens invaders.
Rights are repped by FilmNation internationally and by talent agency WME in North America.
