Pamela Anderson defends Julian Assange after Meghan McCain calls him 'a cyberterrorist' on 'The View'
Pamela Anderson and Meghan McCain can agree to disagree on their respective views on WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
Anderson stopped by The View on Friday where she was asked about her relationship and view on Assange, who she recently visited in prison.
“He knows everything,” Anderson said about Assange. “He's not stupid. He's actually... he's an interesting guy. He's obviously ruffled the feathers of powerful people, and they want to keep him quiet.”
The Australian activist is serving an 11-month prison sentence in Britain for breaching the Bail Act. Assange had been staying at the Embassy of Ecuador in London for the last seven years. In 2012, Ecuador granted him asylum due to his fear of of political persecution. In 2010, Sweden put out an arrest warrant for him. Assange could also face espionage charges.
McCain is clearly not a fan of the WikiLeaks founder, and she let Anderson know several times on the show.
“He hacked information,” McCain said about Assange. “His leaks included classified information that put national security at risk, our military and the lives of spies and diplomats at risk.”
“How many people have the American government killed, innocently,” Anderson asked McCain. “How many has WikiLeaks killed?”
Anderson’s response to McCain prompted some cheers from the in-studio audience. McCain did not respond kindly to one audience member, telling the person to “calm down.”
McCain wrapped the segment by reiterating her strong dislike for Assange.
“He's a cyberterrorist,” McCain exclaimed. “I'll say it. I'll say it. I'm not going to stand by this. It's ridiculous.”
Several commenters were disgusted by McCain’s rudeness not only to Anderson, but to the audience member as well.
Today she was on her worst behavior towards Pamela Anderson and disrespecting an Audience member

So The View is going to allow @MeghanMcCain completely disrespect a guest on live television? Irrespective of Pamela Anderson's political leanings, no guest on a tv show should ever be treated so poorly. Enough is enough.

Others were happy that Anderson stood up to McCain, even if they didn’t necessarily agree with her opinions.
Pamela Anderson just put Meghan McCain in her place in a classy way! Of course Meghan has to be nasty and try to dismiss someone in the audience who agreed with Pamela. This woman has no decorum #TheView pic.twitter.com/KZYmOSBIlD

I won’t defend Pamela Anderson, but I will cheer on anyone that dunks on Meghan McCain.

Some actually sided with McCain on this one, agreeing with her stance on Assange.
There is not much I agree with @MeghanMcCain on but calling Julian Assange a cyber terrorist is spot on. Pamela Anderson you’re being manipulated yet again by a man @TheView

@TheView why would you give Pamela Anderson's crazy theories the time of day? All the plastic surgery has destroyed her brain as well as her face. You acted like she's a credible interview. @MeghanMcCain's indignation was on point today.
