A new episode of The Osbournes Podcast dropped on Tuesday (November 21st), and one segment featured the family discussing their popular MTV reality series The Osbournes. In addition to looking back at the show, the family came to a consensus that they’d never want to revive the series.
Toward the end of the hour-plus episode, Jack Osbourne brought up the reality show (which ran from 2002 to 2005), and asked the family whether it had a “positive or negative effect on everyone’s mental health.”
Kelly Osbourne immediately said it had a “massive negative effect” on her mental health, explaining that it was difficult having people judge everything she said and did on a daily basis. “It made me so insecure,” she added.
Ozzy Osbourne had a different point of view, saying that the show served as the “best diary” for future generations of the family. However, the metal icon lamented the intrusive nature of the production, saying he couldn’t even “pick my nose and squeeze a zit” without the cameras filming him.
Sharon Osbourne felt that the show was a great experience, but it was time for it to end when it did. Ozzy chimed in that the series started to get “unreal” when they were forced to go on fishing trips and engage in other activities that they didn’t normally do in real life.
Jack then remarked, “That’s why I don’t think we’ll ever do another season,” to which Ozzy replied, “It won’t happen again. Never in a million years.”
The family then went into a discussion about how The Kardashians differs from The Osbournes, with Kelly arguing that there’s “still so much private that people don’t know about” when it comes to the Kardashian family.
Ozzy ultimately admitted that he was hurt by the way he was portrayed on The Osbournes, telling Jack, “I remember you came home one day, and said, ‘Dad, let me ask you a question. Do you like people laughing at you or with you? And I said something like, ‘As long as they’re laughing, I don’t give a shit.’ But in all honestly, it made my head think, ‘They’re laughing at me.'”
Last year, it was reported that Sharon and Ozzy were filming a BBC reality series titled Home to Roost, detailing their move from Los Angeles back to England. However, it appears that Ozzy is staying in LA for now, as he continues to battle Parkinson’s disease and recover from recent surgeries, so it’s unclear as to whether the BBC series is still in production.
