Oscars 2025 nominations: Best prediction scores by Gold Derby experts, editors, and users
Congratulations to Gold Derby user Judestar for a tremendous score of 83.33 percent in predicting the 2025 Oscars nominees on Thursday. Our top scorer is tied with eight other people but has the better point score of 99,912 by using the two Super Bets (500 points each) wisely.
A total of 11,285 people worldwide predicted these Academy Awards nominations, with our top scorer correctly predicting 100 of 120 nominee slots. Among the long shots picked accurately were Nickel Boys for Best Picture, plus Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong (The Apprentice) for the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor categories.

Joyce Eng is next with 78.33 percent, and then a tie for Debra Birnbaum and Denton Davidson with 77.50 percent. Christopher Beachum tied with Marcus James Dixon and Rob Licuria with 75.83 percent. Of the 37 experts who predicted, Scott Mantz (KTLA) is best with 80 percent correct. Cole Jaeger (The Oscar Expert) is then tied with Richmond and Rosen with 79.17 percent. Along with Eng at 78.33 percent are Mark Johnson (The Contending), Tariq Khan (Gold Derby), Wilson Morales (BlackFilmandTV), and Nikki Novak (Fandango). Tying with Birnbaum at 77.50 percent are Jacqueline Coley (Rotten Tomatoes) and Joey Nolfi (Entertainment Weekly). Up next at 76.67 percent are Marcus Jones (Indiewire), Matt Neglia (Next Best Picture), and Anne Thompson (Indiewire). Tied at 75.83 percent are Thelma Adams (Gold Derby), Clayton Davis (Variety), and Erik Davis (Fandango).
Following at 74.17 percent are Scott Feinberg (Hollywood Reporter) and Michael Musto (Queerty). Jenelle Riley (Variety) is next with 73.33 percent and then a tie at 72.50 percent for Shawn Edwards (WDAF), Perri Nemiroff (Collider), Peter Travers (ABC), and Brian Truitt (USA Today). Hanh Nguyen (Salon) is next with 71.67 percent, and then Susan King (Gold Derby) and Claudia Puig (KPCC). We then have Jazz Tangcay (Variety) with 70 percent, Keith Simanton (IMDb) with 69.17 percent, and Andrea Mandell (People) with 65 percent.
Not predicting all categories were Susan Wloszczyna (Gold Derby) with 53.33 percent, Gregory Ellwood (The Playlist) with 66.67 percent, Kevin Polowy (CBR) with 66.67 percent, Kate Erbland (Indiewire) with 58.33 percent, John Horn (NPR) with 50 percent, and Eric Deggans (NPR) with 35 percent.
