Will Olivia Rodrigo tour her new 'Guts' album? Acrisure Arena hints the answer is yes
UPDATE AS OF 5 P.M. TUESDAY: Acrisure Arena has indirectly confirmed our prediction, posting a video to X (formerly known as Twitter) of a butterfly flying through the sky over the Palm Springs windmills with the words "Guts" spelled in the clouds. The accompanying tweet hints at an announcement that will be made Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Did Olivia Rodrigo hint at an upcoming performance in the Coachella Valley in a recent lyric video? It's hard to say, but TikTokers sure think so.
On Friday, Rodrigo dropped a lyric video for her new song "Making the Bed," which includes a graphic of a ticket stub that says "Olivia Rodrigo Presents: Guts World Tour Palm Springs, CA, USA." There's no date or venue listed on the ticket. The video coincided with the release of the "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" star's sophomore album "Guts"
No tour dates have been announced yet
Despite the possible Easter egg, Rodrigo has not announced any tour dates as of Tuesday. The Temecula native went on tour in 2022 for her debut album, "Sour," which didn't stop in the Coachella Valley, but did make stops in San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and San Diego.
Sometimes messages such as these do mean a show will be announced soon. Case in point: In April, Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus posted a "Coachella" playlist to his Apple Music account days before the band was announced as a special guest for the festival.

Could this be hinting at Rodrigo's Coachella debut?
Billboard listed Rodrigo in an April article as one of 10 artists who could headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2024 following the success of "Sour," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and had 385 million streams during its first week on Spotify. In 2022, Rodrigo won three Grammy Awards for "Best Pop Vocal Album," "Best Pop Solo Performance" and "Best New Artist."
Although plenty of fans are begging on social media for a Rodrigo Coachella set, we think it's more likely that this Taylor Swift-esque Easter egg could be hinting that Rodrigo might open her inevitable "Guts" tour at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert (which is not technically in Palm Springs of course, but is marketed as "Acrisure Arena at Greater Palm Springs" on Ticketmaster and other sites).
If she does make a "Guts" tour stop at Acrisure, Rodrigo will join the likes of major pop stars such as Lizzo, Harry Styles and Shania Twain who have performed at the venue since it opened in December 2022.
Blending humor with heartbreak
Aside from a couple of writing assists from Dan Nigro, who produced “Sour” as well as her new release, Rodrigo handles her own songwriting. Sometimes she’s bluntly funny (“I want to meet his mom just to tell her her son sucks,” she chants in the gleefully spiteful “Get Him Back!”), other times heartbreaking (“We both drew blood, but those cuts were never equal,” she laments on “The Grudge,” one of several songs with some well-placed expletives).
Musically, Rodrigo sticks with the formula that instantly endeared her from the time she arrived in 2021: pop that slow-burns into a cresting boom of melodic punk.
She's performing at the VMAs
Rodrigo is nominated for six MTV VMAs and will perform at the show on Tuesday night, airing live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The show airs at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, as well as sister brands BET, BET Her, CMT, CC, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land and VH1.
For those without cable, the VMAs will stream on Paramount+.
